Student development

Critical thinking and an engagement culture

The student’s citizenship education is part of the student’s overall educational project. It is aimed at aspiring citizens who are gradually becoming aware of their rights, duties and responsibilities. Backed by all forms of teachings, in particular moral and civic education, media and information education, and as part of the common foundation of knowledge, skills and culture, the citizen journey contributes to the transmission of the values and principles of the Republic and of life in democratic societies. The citizen path brings the student’s education into line throughout his or her education, from primary to high school, but also with all the student’s educational time, in school, after-school and extracurricular activities.

At every grade level, Lycée Claudel aims to surpass educational expectations in order to help students become well-informed citizens. Therefore, we advocate:

  • Teaching republican values and secularism.
  • Fighting discrimination.
  • We have a zero-tolerance policy for racism, antisemitism, and homophobia. We strongly believe in gender equality.
  • Preventing and fighting harassment.
  • Raising awareness about environmental issues and sustainable development.
  • Studying media and information technologies.
  • Including students in the democratic and social aspects of academic life.

Promote student health

Intellectual development is not the only aspect of education that matters to young people. For this reason, Lycée Claudel also places a great emphasis on health education. We provide all the necessary resources to help students at every grade level develop safe and healthy behaviours.
Our approach is centred on two main principles:

  • Protection
  • Prevention

These principles take on different forms according to what is appropriate for each grade level. In primary school, we teach students about basic hygiene, the benefits of relaxation, and respect. In secondary school, we delve into sexual education, addiction prevention (from substance abuse to computer addiction), and healthy management of stress and emotions.
